Open Source is a general term covering a wide range of uses of [[Copyleft]] licenses, as opposed to the traditional [[Copyright]].

Open Source grew out of the [[Free and Open Source Software]] movements, in particular out of [[Richard Stallman]]'s [[General Public Licence]], which was the first copyleft license.
