On the morning of Friday 7th April 2000 four Europeans, [[Richard Drake]], [[Keith Braithwaite]], [[Stephan Houben]] and [[Manfred Schaefer]], starting independently, tried to reduce the amount of text on Wiki by a large number of deletions. They mainly attacked [[WikiOnWiki]] material, which they considered to be dead weight, and would have preferred to see replaced by concise guidance to newcomers. They can be seen as supporting [[Ward Cunningham]]'s insistance those who strayed too far from the primary focus of [[WikiWikiWeb]], which was supposed to be computer programming design patterns, were [[WikiSquatting]].
